Slight differences in cubes make a big difference to me. I was just moved to a cube where the only feasible setup is having my back to foot traffic and it drives me nuts.

Only one or two feasible solutions? That's a little suspicious, but in general feasibility isn't any easier than optimality. If you'd like to talk optimization/metaheuristics feel free to shoot me an email (in my profile

I'm not familiar with Google's particular implementation of these, but with the right value of the parameters, they are equivalent to local search. You could test with these parameters and see if the solution changes. In the simp

I have the reserve, and was disappointed that the latest Chase Amazon Visa is also metal. If too many cards are metal, it becomes less special. The heft of the metal makes me want to spend more, but not if every card has the same heft!

Absolutely! I learned to play a lot of fast runs of sixteenth notes by varying the rhythm. Effective and much more fun than starting slowly ticking up the metronome (although I do a lot of that too).

Has the author seen Silicon Valley? Alice Wetterlund's character isn't a teenager.

Each Blue Apron meal is supposed to be for two. Can you just eat the whole thing yourself, or is it a problem of macros + price with the existing meal prep?

Awesome! I work in Excel on a shared Windows server VM. Is it possible to install an add-in like this for one user, or will everyone using Excel on this VM see the add-in? Ideally, I'd buy a license for myself right now and start using

Thanks for making me think about this. Every time I play my favorite deck I spend $5-10 for entry for a local tournament, which lasts about 4 hours. Adding in the cost of the deck, I'd need to play it for over 200 hours before it becom

Please, can podcast creators set up an RSS feed when they release their initial episode? And not the RSS feed through Soundcloud, that's just enough effort to get to and copy into my podcatcher that I'm not going to do it. I subsc

I get that paying for the MEAP will eventually get you access to all of the chapters, but it seems a little steep at this point. I'd a lot more willing to pay, say, $10 for access to only the first three chapters, and then pay more i

Thanks for sharing! On iTunes U are there assignments or other course materials, or just the video lectures? I only see the videos there and I'd like to get my hands dirty practicing assignments and not just watch the lectures.

Are you the creator of mythicspoiler? I know they wanted to do something like that. As of a few sets ago the 'Similar Cards' in their spoilers were chosen manually.

The head designer of mtg (I'm getting this from his Drive to Work podcast) seems to imply that a lot of what was done in the early years was not nearly as planned as the NPR story says. From what I understand, they were printing as muc

What do you mean watch out? Isn't "improving on an exhaustive search of all possibilities (perhaps with some smart pruning)" a way of saying global optimization? Unrelated, great job with JuliaOpt, if that is you.

How do you define straightforward? Magic has a lot of cards, but formats restrict* the pool of cards that can be used, and within each format's legal cards, the majority of them are unplayable. *(in the colloquial sense of the word res
