I write desktop apps using PyQt and build an installer with pynsist. This is cross-platform, but I only need Windows support. Other than that, is this project just a simplified way to build desktop applications, or would it produce somethin

Are all-day interviews typical in other professions? Honest question. I don't think it's a good or bad thing. I appreciate meeting a lot more people when it's a long interview, but of course it is tiring.

I was required to take seventeen (10 week, 3/hour week lecture) classes during my PhD. A quick check of a comparable program requires eleven 15 week courses, just about the same. Anecdote yes, but not a handful of courses.

For self-study, you don't necessarily need to follow the usual progression of math classes that start at calculus. It's more important to get comfortable with linear algebra than calculus, especially the way a lot of intro calculu

I wish that was the case at my company. I'm required to create slide decks that are supposed to be usable as presentations and can stand alone without anyone presenting them. I don't think it's actually possible.

I've been using used Thinkpad and Thinkpad competitors (Dell Latitude) forever. There always seems to be a big supply of used corporate computers. I just upgraded to a T450s and it's fantastic.
