"many advancements in what we can do with Javascript and HTML" Please don't be closed minded about only using to languages because the "open" web won't let you use anything else (no transpilation crap please).

Does it mean that it supports only basic common denominator features of every language? I am a fan of attributes in C# - are Haxe annotations as powerful?

"front-end engineering" - do you mean applying one of the modern JavaScript MV* frameworks to HTML GUI?

Then you read some science fiction and futurology forecasts and understand that there is no way future isn't going to be revolving around programming in every way. And you feel even better.

Surely that would disrupt the industry. Social, mobile, local!

Who cares about taxi drivers' pride, when the journey could be much cheaper and safer? I bet robo-taxi would stop for pedestrians to cross as well. And of course it will be a while before robots could rape or rob someone. Also they do

asm.js and WebGL give a hope that one day we will be able to forget most of HTML, CSS and JS like a horror dream they are. At the very least there should be a real choice of in-browser GUI technology and language (no crappy transpilation ap

"Their days are numbered, it's just a matter of when." Eventually robots will be driving. At least they live in a socialistic country, so there is some security.

There are other options. My commute to one end is 40 minutes, of which 20 minutes are walking (obviously not a waste). The other 20 minutes on a train is reading articles.

I would consider quitting the job. I could get 8 5 productive hours for myself, instead of 4 5 hours of tiredness I have now. Better today then when retired. Speaking of which my generation will never retire and will always rent.

I should have said "changed" instead of "messed up", but sometimes it does feel like one big sociological experiment.

Intuitively it feels quite accurate. C#, Java, C++, Python, JS cript at the very top. Scala above F#. New entrants not too down in the bottom.

"HTML+CSS+JS, was, for lack of a better term, a disaster" - it's still is though. There is no way to re-design them from scratch eliminating the numerous design flaws due to compatibility requirements AFAIK?
