I personally like the tactile feeling so much that I bought a relatively expensive mechanical cherry-switch keyboard. There is no way replacing that feeling on your fingers.

Well, the parent post is not exactly an example of objectivity too. I agree that dynamic typing can be a useful tool. I am likely to use both in any n-tier project and benefit from that.

OK, my opinion is that there is no need to throw away type safety to gain succinctness, especially if your language gives you REPL.

The thing is that strong static inference beats dynamicity.

"Colombian salaries aren’t that much lower than US salaries". Seeeeriously doubt that they are paying $100k to devs (like in SF) in Colombia.

Apple posted a benchmark during the presentation. It was validated. They lied. Maybe they shouldn't boast about performance before releasing?

The good part is that the following smooth transition is now possible for the core iOS developers: ObjectiveC -> Swift -> C#: iOS, Android, Windows Phone etc.

Yes, it's like watching history repeat itself. Apple is the new pre-20xx Microsoft, Metal is the new DirectX, Swift it the new VB(A/Script).

I would be _very_ surprised if it is any more than 60k for a senior developer. This isn't Silicon Valley, unfortunately (well, at least property prices are on par!). PS: except for start-up Hedge Funds I guess :).

No, it's just a second take at removing the "ceremony": v. 1: let's remove the ceremony along with strong static typing advantages and just hack-fix everything with unit tests. v. 2: let's remove just the ceremony.

It is not really open at the moment. They are making heavy assumptions about developers willing to use HTML5/JS. It would be nice to see JVM/Mono APIs documentation.

Can't you use Scala/Clojure for Android development? You can certainly use C# to develop natively-compiled apps for iOS.
