This is called null-value propagation. It's coming to C# (6) this year.

True, and also front-end doesn't have to be based on legacy tech (HTML/JS/CSS). In this mobile-first world, native is a good option. Xamarin Forms is worth looking at.

Dart is awesome! I hope they will come up with something that fixes all HTML & CSS warts as well. Don't tell me technology doesn't thrive on competition. Pigeonholing everyone into same set of legacy languages is simply not OK

Mozilla's persistent over-promotion of the legacy technologies (HTML, JS, CSS) as the only acceptable way of web development is a very strong turn-off for me. NaCl let's you use e.g. C# in-browser without shitty and low-performanc

Then people publish whiny posts on how tough the mobile game market is and how nobody notices their game (which is a bunch of scripts tying together pre-made components and assets).

The problem is that Unity3d is being mis-marketed as a triple 'A' tool-set. It's not.

If you play mobile games and have seen a Unity3d splash screen, then you have already used Mono. Silverlight is not Mono. Also Silverlight plugin is being displaced by the HTML5 plugin (shipping with the browser).

I wouldn't move to GitHub even if it was to provide private repositories for free (which it doesn't). BitBucket just works flawlessly for my needs.

Unlike Ruby, Scala has a potential to be a multi-purpose language (mobile, web, enterprise) - like C# already is (Scala is more enterprisy, C# is more mobile). Unfortunately Ruby's dynamic nature is a big limitation - both in terms of

"Python native" is an oxymoron, given the language's interpreted nature. "Python-idiomatic" would probably be a more correct choice of words. But that's just me.

I think the idea is to have more compile-time static type checking, e.g. for exhaustiveness. Probably any C# functional developer experimented with the monadic approach (myself included), for example: http://codebetter.com/m

Teamwork is fun, but in the end of the day you want a proof that you are capable of doing great things on your own. To make things worse, development can be a creative occupation. All game artists have personal pieces in their portfolios.
