I've said this before and got downvoted for it. But if companies allow extremists on their platforms then the moderates will leave. It's not so much a paradox but a cause and effect.

Aside from human narcissism, the space race is motivated by it's militarily strategic importance. Outside of a black swan event, humanity is not ever getting off this rock in any colonial capacity. Space, it turns out, is a really shit

I think it's that people tend to just go with their group. And when good people don't rise to oppose evil it snowballs into tragedy.
