I guess my point about DRM is more that the books I want to read are generally only available in DRMed formats. But maybe that's not true? I don't use an Amazon e-reader, for what it's worth.

I long preferred "real" books, despite having an e-reader for over ten years, but the e-reader has a killer feature: the backlight. Having a backlight means I can turn the light off on my nightstand, and read at night without keep

Eagle-eyed observers have noticed Starlink antennas on SpaceX's drone ships. So mobile capability is definitely already implemented, it's just not publicly available yet. (Edit: And evidently some regular users are already beta-

Oof, I feel this. I've made so many dumb mistakes in management gigs, which is normal and just a part of learning any skill, but it's so much more painful when your dumb mistakes are with other people and their jobs. It's not

I agree completely. It's a very difficult problem from a technical perspective, and from a systems perspective, we've got untrained operators who can't even stay off their phones in a non- self-driving car. (Not high-horsing

I agree that cancelling someone over an accidental transgression is a vengeful overreaction. Separately, let me ask you this: If I step on your foot, does it hurt less if I didn't mean to?

I thought this too until I looked at US presidential electoral maps for the past century, and then ran across a study of political division in the US that showed a dramatic increase beginning around 1980. (Don't have a link handy unfor

This is what intersectionality is supposed to be about: the notion that privilege and discrimination aren't one-dimensional, but are complex products of many intersecting and possibly conflicting experiences, attributes, and contexts.
