Have you considered getting a MacBook and running a Linux VM on it? I do this using UTM, which is an excellent macOS front end for Qemu and Apple’s own Virtualization framework. https://mac.getutm.app/

The biggest problem is that Hollywood doesn’t make good movies anymore. Sequels, remakes, and reboots are so played out. I’d rather just wait for it to come to streaming. There’s maybe two or three movies that have come out this year tha

What’s the advantage to avoiding SwiftPM? Is it just for simplicity or are there other advantages?

OpenBSD has one of my favorite installers. Clean, simple, no nonsense and great defaults, but still full of options for customization.

I am still convinced that they made the wrong design trade off when it comes to C-style strings. A Pascal-style string with a length prefix byte takes up the same amount of memory as a null terminated string but is immune to buffer overflo

I didn’t realize anyone had implemented SwiftUI for Windows. Is the source available?

In my limited experience, SwiftUI is excellent for iOS development, but it requires a lot of extra effort to get good results on macOS. I suspect that’s why.

Lazarus and Free Pascal are very easy to learn. A rewrite would not be necessary for another developer to pick it up and maintain it. It also has a larger community than you think. The official forums are very active.

I miss the wide diversity of operating systems and computer architectures that we had in the 80s and 90s. It was exciting watching them all compete with each other and cross-pollinate good ideas. It also still blows my mind that out of all

It’s possible to have small app sizes on iOS if you stick to the built in APIs and don’t use an excessive amount of media assets. Not to brag, but my app is 368 KB. Granted, it’s a very simple app. https://apps.apple.com/us

What is wrong with Free Pascal and Lazarus other than that it’s not in fashion? It’s probably the best cross platform RAD GUI builder in existence. It’s also very easy to learn, so it’s not really an issue of “job security” in practice.
