Interesting timing…I just finished John Romero’s book Doom Guy. It’s definitely worth the read if you grew up on id’s early games. Masters of Doom is also an excellent read.

BASIC is the scripting language used by Microsoft Office. Saying that it powers millions of businesses is probably not an exaggeration. Pascal, particularly the Delphi/Object Pascal flavor, is also still in widespread use today.
