Are you looking at the direct dependencies? Because that list isn't neverending: https://github.com/Troels51/dtui/blob/main/Cargo.toml For TUI it uses ratatui. The transitive dependencies can get qu

Personally I've never found this to be issue, as I increase volume sizes base on need, not allocate 100% from the get-go. The space needed for short-lived snapshots is not that big, though that of course can depend on the system. This

Exactly so. Here's the script, should it be of benefit to someone, even if it of course needs to be modified: #!/bin/sh success=false teardown() { umount /mnt/backup/var/lib/docker

This was basically one big reason why I went with https://kopia.io . The other might have been its native S3 support.

I think block-level snapshots would be very difficult to use this way. I just make a full dedupped backups from LVM snapshots with kopia, but I've set that up only on one system, on others I just use kopia as-is. It takes some time, bu

I think it's worth mentioning that Ctrl-A is ascii 1, Ctrl-B ascii 2, etc, as it is in Unix today.

You can also use lvm2 and then you get atomic snapshots with any file system (I think it needs to support fsfreeze, I guess all of them do).

Well, eza certainly seems faster on my micro-benchmark as well, though in general I never have any performance issues with these tools. Btw, ls beats them both easily (in my single-directory test). So features would be my main criteria, I g

I suppose that's what CrowdStrike's system on Mac uses as well, then. Apparently on Linux they use EBPF and Microsoft is researching that for Windows as well: https://github.com/microsoft/ebpf-for-windows . S

How much does it really help you if your complete user-space can still be messed up by an offending Windows SYSTEM process? As I understand it, they are able to hurt the system e.g. by killing processes, uninstalling applications, replacing

Ultimately this would have been almost a non-issue if there had been better deployment strategies in place for also the data file updates. If by changing the system you mean adding some kind of in-kernel isolation to it, then I don't t

You are not the customer, though, your employer is the customer. Perhaps you should push this change up in the food chain, then, and if the company is good the request will be taken seriously. As I understand it, while CrowdStrike is the bi

I read it as wanting to embed LLM functionality, but my reading might have been incorrect—and by the client library reference I understood it was referring to generic HTTP clients, but that reading might have also been incorrect :). Per the

Do you think Microsoft customers using CrowdStrike would then be happier, being unable to run the software at all, due to an action Microsoft took? Backdoors of all kinds can be installed to most any operating system without vendor co-opera

Yes, that could've been lended almost as-is from OCaml, in particular as Rust doesn't have partial application so optional arguments would work out-of-the-box as well.

The actual issue was with the signed code reading the data files that the data file update just brought to surface. But I don't think Microsoft verifies customer code, they might not even have access to it.

How much memory does employing the complete 128k window take, though? I've sadly noticed that it can take a significant amount of VRAM to use a larger context window. edit: e.g. I wouldn't know the correct parameters for this calc
