Yeah, and tbh, I'm hearing that their return fees are actually pretty reasonable. If you can return at less than 75% for only $25, just do that. Supercharging isn't particularly cheap anyway, so you can't save that much money

Yeah, it really varies. If you have a hotel with good ev charging, an EV can be a convenience. I've had the experience of renting a gas vehicle, and then realizing my hotel had EV charging and would have actually been more convenient.

With the updated Model 3 on the market and these starting to get sold en masse, there will be some great bargains on used Model 3 soon. Interestingly, they seem to be selling off more of the 3 than the Y too.

Yeah, I remember being really excited about this at announcement. It made perfect sense too, as Tesla does really well on Turo! But the rental companies overshot a bit. They didn't keep their processes and infrastructure up to pace wit

That still wouldn't be true for a used Tesla. Most used sales are Model 3 or Y. Both charge really well. Even older used Model S or X are more like 30 minutes than 2 hours, especially if the location is bad and you'd rather get to

True, and this is why sales for EVs basically automatically increase as infrastructure is built out in a particular area. Once consumers understand the capability and what is their, their buying patterns are fairly rational. In my experienc

Yes, but there's a difference between exact results and reproducible results. I should get similar performance, otherwise there is an issue.

I guess I'm saying that if there are reproducibility problems without the weights, then there's still a reproducibility problem with them. A paper with weights that magically work, when training on the same data and algorithm does

The weights aren't needed to make it reproducable. The code and training data are needed. Hopefully if you used those, you'd ultimately reach the same result.

Neural networks for quality assessment aren't necessarily unheard of. I'm not sure how they'd be using them in this case, though? Maybe something like a camera monitoring that they are using the correct tool at various parts

I've noticed the same with electrical work. How many use torque screwdrivers, even when dealing with high load appliances (eg, a 50 amp EVSE)?

Yes, exactly. BYD can go below that, to vehicles that wouldn't really be marketable outside of China.

Yeah, their system is really foreign to us in the US (no pun intended :)). The idea that people not employed by Tesla will actively block Tesla is weird and really tilts the balance of power. I'm not aware enough of the details of how

As much as I'd love to believe that a better leader would make an American company fully keep pace with BYD, I don't see any evidence that this is the case. I really doubt BYD would be doing any better on worker treatment and unio

The flip side to this is that every system involving software seems to inevitably devolve into a situation where the human is expected to no longer be responsible. Oh, you floored it while the car was pointed at the wall? It has cameras, wh

If the stuff being spread was "road tripping EVs without the supercharger network is bad", I'd agree with you. After all, that was the takeaway of the article and it is true. CCS networks are terrible. I rarely see one that

No, in an emergency, we all run out to the gas station to fill the containers that we just bought. Then we find out they are out, because that is what happens in an emergency.

Yeah, it is shockingly common to see stories about AP failure that turn out to be purely human driving. The press elevates some weird anti-Tesla narratives. Of course, they are just quoting so it isn't lying, but sometimes it seems lik
