Their charge curve is second only to Porsche at the moment, and at a much lower price point. The Ioniq 5 is arguably the best EV crossover on the market.

IMO, the "can't you just" people do this with everyone. I can understand why, as it is sometimes effective at queuing people to keep trying and to find a way. Unfortunately, the part after the "can't you just"

It makes perfect sense for quality interstate stops. There's a reason that Sheetz, Wawa, and Buc-ees have so many of them.

Plugshare is owned by evgo. It'd be nice to have a fully independent entity owning the data and sharing it freely.

One of the most compelling arguments that I hear from the anti-renewables types is that they do it in California and it doesn't work. I think there's more to it than that, though. TX has seen tremendous growth in renewables, and g

That's something that I've worried about with these studies. Even if doctors don't warn patients, friends and family will sometimes actively discourage coffee and caffeine consumption among those with high blood pressure. It

I feel like I rarely see anything negative about it, TBH. The last one that I remember reading was actually about decaf, due specifically to the decafeination process.

Can someone explain the economics of this to me? As I understand it, battery storage isn't cheaper than just base load generation (nuclear, combined cycle). However, it sounds like natural gas peaker plants are significantly more expen

It is funny how much criticism you are taking for saying things that are obviously true. Yes, Musk's personal life is a mess and noone would enjoy being him. That can be true at the same time as his business philosophy effectively push

You could use flightaware.com for this. Just search a date and a departure airport. The caveat is that the list will be fairly large, with a lot of repeats.

This seems like a worthwhile fight. I'm surprised to see someone taking it up, though, most of the time company's just seem to comply with government mandated censorship.

I've heard that a lot. TBH, it sounds like they aren't going in order, which is really strange to me. I don't think they are trying to limit it though, given that there are readily available third party adapters anyway.

I think Tesla claims to be making ~8k/week now. IIRC, Ford has >200k cars out there and Rivian >100k.

I think between 15 and 20% were build pre-2019. The number of non-CCS is actually on the higher end of this, as component shortages caused quite a few to be built without CCS support in 2020.

Honestly, I'm a huge fan of Chromebooks for this reason. They are secure, easy to setup, and generally have really good battery life. The keyboards are really bad for a developer, though. Otherwise, I might use them a bit more.

It is funny that this kind of comment will draw downvotes, even here! Obviously combustion fuels will not 100% go away(1), but the era of their dominance is quickly reaching its logical end. (1) Kind of an unrelated note, but I think the mo

IDK why these threads are like this in HN. It seems strange, given the sites tendency to attract techies, but many of them turn like this. And yet you go into car forums and supposedly most Tesla owners are "tech bros". :shrug

The most popular EVs in the US are the Model 3 and Model Y. The oldest 3 is 7 years old, so getting it over 200k would mean ~28k/year. And yet, there are some that have over 200k miles. It isn't uncommon to run across them.

I'd guess that a lot of EV renters switch back to Turo or whatever company still offers them. For some reason, these threads attract a lot of people who act like noone likes renting them and very few say otherwise. Nevertheless, there&
