AHAHAHAHA! About time. One of my first tech jobs was with Office Depot, where I was hired on as the technology lead, thinking that I was going to be sharing my 2008 era knowledge. I still remember feeling excited and sharing with the store

What a fascinating product, and probably the most desirable from a consumer standpoint since the 2007 debut of the iPhone. My high school aged sister-in-law tells me that these have been the "it" item for the past two years. For m

Some points from personal experience from working at Boeing, family working at Boeing, and a close friend on the flight line for the 737-8; - not everything is back from the Lion Air incident, but internally there was strong confidence that

With the exception of local access, over seas channels, and some really small and locally produced content for local affiliates, it’s 1080p. A lot of companies transitioned from 720/1080i in 2012-13. If you have an older STB, you might

This is still not true. I’ve personally worked on some Of these transcoders, unless your affiliate has something running on a Pentium 4 in their back closet from 2003, they’re not broadcasting something that is down converted.

This is false. Some channels in some markets may be at 720p and some older STBs top out at 1080i, but recent boxes like the XG1, any boxes that are IP, like the Xi series, and all of their apps take top bitrate profiles, so channels like yo

It won’t be that bad. STBs from Comcast over the past few years support 1080p and the ones released over the past year support 4K. Also most newer Android TV based STBs support 4k. You’re probably saying “yeah, but the content doesn’t”, oh,

I absolutely fucking love it. It makes up for the lack of snow or cold and dry days. Four months where the sun is under 30°, where the color temp from daylight casts everything with a golden evening glow. A glance outside feels timeless as

It seems to be a trendy Twitter thing to shit on the legacy of Churchill after Scott Kelly’s tweet quoting him. Churchill was probably just as bad or even worse than Hitler and to put even the faintest of a positive light on any of his achi

Where are we going with all of these emotionally charged views? Even looking at the comments here, if you were to refute a claim or challenge a point that originated from a popular narrative, you’re painted as “the enemy”. I can’t be a mode

This has to be something that is somewhat unique to the Pacific Northwest lowlands, where you have very large counties that are densely populated in spots. I lived near 127th St, which had 127th St Ct, 127th St E, 127th St Ct E, and then a
