This Ireland you speak of makes the foreign Meta Platforms much more money in tax avoidance/evasion.

You are misunderstanding me bringing up mutually assured destruction. Sure, it prevents preemptive strikes, but it doesn't prevent accidental launches, broken early warning systems and bad communication. Do you think the fact that we h

Of course you can. Technology can irreversibly change societies. Do you have a technical solution to the potential for mutually assured destruction through nuclear weapons?

That's maybe a bit... thick. Fewer commercial ambitions? The entire point of Go is to be the Java of Google, the language you don't need several weeks of training for to be productive in and start reading and writing code. Java&#x

WPCOM is a very limited WordPress - much more limited than Mullenweg is accusing WP Engine of being. The real competitor in Automattics portfolio is Pressable. Who are currently running a poaching campaign on their frontpage.

If you integrate your code to have hard dependencies on a third party server that is provided for free, that's as much part of an implicit social contract as is channeling a subset of earnings back at a project if you're successfu

Automattic also has a very direct competitor in Pressable - who are currently running a WP Engine contract buyout promotion in their header. Horrid look.

This is the equivalent of NPM, Maven or PyPi cutting off an enterprise artifact repository because they don't donate enough to keep those services running. Especially the lack of notice makes it an unprofessional garbage move.

This is a horrible way to go about it though. WP Engine users are still WordPress users, and cutting them off without notice is very shitty. I wouldn't trust WordPress for anything after this, if all that it takes to cut you off from u

That's because Likud has been unable to build a coalition with anyone but far right splinters. So there are now people in power that want the same kind of religious nationalist state as the furthest right depths of the GOP (or maybe no

The word "terrorist" is very overloaded in Israeli politics. To anyone right of Likud (or even Likud itself) it can even include opposition leaders and arab citizens.

Syncthing is also a very solid choice and I'd use it if I didn't need the ability to create links for people - either to download or upload.

I run Seafile for this reason. The sync client isn't pretty, but file transfers are fast, conflict detection good and it's pretty light on resources.

Mental Outlaw definitely doesn't know how to threat model anything. Keeps assuming you'll be targeted specifically, but then tries to evade that with i2p and Tor. Most people aren't going to be specifically targeted though, e

The problem is that platforms are removing S3 and S2idle support wasn't great for a while. Those problems should be mostly resolved in 2024 though.

That gen should still have "real" S3 sleep, with S2idle/S0ix (same thing, different name) being an option. I'd guess yes.

I like the GNOME experience, but to say that it's a more powerful way to use computers is just plain wrong. The only reason I use KDE instead is the inability (or additional hoops) to configure GNOME. That starts at fractional scaling

C:S 1 has quite a few "thundering herd" issues, like perfectly cyclic deathwaves. This includes extreme industrial traffic if you zone it all in at once. The capacity of (all) buildings is also pretty extreme. Adding Realistic Pop
