That is what's becoming apparent right now, yes. I was more of an "a few bad apples" person until this week. But they're making it extremely clear that as a faction they have no regard for anything or anyone but their ow

A few years ago I would've thought thought that was an overreaction (assuming police were just using it as customers, and not something like surveillance). This week, I no longer feel that way.

Worth noting that the OP said "mid-sized company", which probably means one that doesn't have a runway measured in months. That makes a big difference.

I think it also factors in the velocity of upvotes. I.e., I've seen things with 3 upvotes make the front page, presumably because they happened very rapidly.

Quick tip: for the client-side, large dataset case, if you want to get fancy it's possible to create a worker thread and perform the sort there, which makes it somewhat faster but more importantly stops it from freezing up the tab whil

I'm honestly taking advantage of the stock bounce-back we're experiencing right now to move some money back out into cash before things fall back down. The current uptick just feels ludicrous and probably short-lived.

I would also add that type inference is one of the biggest differentiators when it comes to developer experience. When you have to manually type every single thing, even local variables, it's easy for the system to hinder more than i

This is a really good point. Local elections may be even more important, and are definitely easier to have an impact on. Local governments also - from my anecdotal impression - seem to have a lot more corruption, probably because they often

A pure functional style does help somewhat; things are more predictable and consistent, expressions can be evaluated inline to test them out, etc. And I think Clojure teams (Lisp teams in general, really) are already forced to be on the sma

I did one personal project in it just to get my feet wet. Unfortunately the tooling was not great at the time so it soured my impression a bit (I'm told it's gotten better since then). But also, I just have a really hard time givi

The fascinating thing to me about Clojure is that it's so vocally a "practical" language, and yet is a) a Lisp, and b) purely functional[1]. Usually those two things are associated with language enthusiasts, and not "&qu

I'm fully aware that my home is spiraling into disaster. But we still have a ways to go before we're on the same level as either of those places. The way things are going we may get there sooner rather than later, but we have a wa

I know this isn't a time for laughing but I nearly spit out my drink when it said China was speaking out about our police brutality, and Russia was lecturing us on media freedoms. They can't be unaware of how comical that is.

What's interesting is that this sort of thing would only be useful in the looting context, best I can tell. Otherwise it's hard to know which devices specifically were stolen. So did they already have the system in place just for
