Well, it supports S390 and IA64. That shows you in which decade much of its development happened.

The section on architecture support of dietlibc is too optimistic, IMHO. I stumbled upon quite a few function, esp. floating-point-related functions, that simply aren't implemented on x86_64 while they're available while they'

I was aware of that, and it wasn't my point. I was talking about the supposed portability of systemd. The question remains, is systemd really Linux-only, or portable to some degree?

IIRC, when a presentation a few years ago at Chaos Communication Congress revealed systemd security issues, Lennart Poettering argued that these issues aren't a problem because they're resolved on Solaris and will be as soon as Li

It's not overused at all... tone policing is the most uninteresting and outright annoying response you can possibly produce in a technical discussion. Also, this: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Graham'

Is the free software alternative you talk about hypothetical or do you have any concrete piece of software to refer to, preferably one that would interoperate with OP's peer group of 99% iOS users?

Nice, easy to use, really straightforward code. The only thing I would have done differently is make sleepy.Api implement http.Handler so that it would easily integrate with other libraries that build upon and play nicely with net/http

Still nowhere near e.g. Munich, and it really only shoots up in the hip, stylish neighborhoods. I've lived in Berlin for 5 years now, in a not-so-cool but still reasonably central area (Moabit), and rents have barely gone up during tha

I disagree. There are rather huge gaps between Berlin vs. cities like Frankfurt or Munich. Living costs are much lower in Berlin, and so naturally, wages are lower, too.

I didn't miss it, and it's completely beside my point (N.B. I'm a VAX owner myself, playing with OpenBSD and NetBSD on it now and then, so I appreciate their efforts). I'm talking about the majority of people. Pretty muc

Well, who would really want to fund their compile farm of obscure vintage hardware if all they're really interested in is OpenSSH? Even if OpenBSD went bust, somebody would pick up OpenSSH eventually, without all the Vaxen and SGI mach

I talked to a friend of mine who is an engineer at Qualcomm, and he said the article is exaggerated and out-dated. Current basebands don't use REX OS anymore, and they put mitigation mechanisms in place, so this piece seems like FUD.

AFAIK, access to the baseband and vice versa is through a network inside the phone. Physically, these two computers are separated, and communicate only through a well-defined network interface. No poking in other computer's memory.
