Admittedly I'm a bit disguntled by the conservatives in my own country which are mainly supported by the rural communities. I let that show too much in my comment which was not fair. I'm sorry.

Here in Spain they've never gone. The breakfast menu has been cancelled here though since Corona and never returned :'( I miss my sausage and egg muffin.

I have this book and it's excellent. However many topics have since become heavily outdated with things like SIP, the signed system volume, APFS etc. I wouldn't recommend it now.

Hmm. I'm not sure what to think of all this special build stuff. I moved from macOS to FreeBSD + KDE mainly because I felt that macOS was becoming too dumbed down. And I actually like the UI and configurability of KDE. So no, I'm

Personally I think the Covid-19 was handled much better by the western world. Look at how China is doing right now. Their population has almost no exposure to the virus, meaning every outbreak is still significant like it was for us in the

It's a different world view I think. In Europe with our more socialist history, we view government regulations mainly as a protection of civil rights. Whereas in the US it seems to be viewed more as a kerbing of freedom. It's not

With stable I think you mean quarterly? I'm on latest myself, the guys maintaining the desktop tools are really good, often it takes only a day or two for a new KDE version to make it to my computer. Only right now with 5.26 there'

Yes I do. With KDE. I'm very happy about it. I moved from macOS as I disagreed with most of Apple's choices in recent versions. Now I feel in control of my computer again. I'm not into laptops though and I heard the latest Wi

I have to disagree with this guy. Sure, the corruption can occur, but if the memory is not faulty, ZFS will detect data corruption in-situ during a scrub. It's just that ECC errors can introduce their own corruption that is separate, d

Securelevels are not just this. FreeBSD has its own SELinux equivalent called Mandatory Access Control: https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/mac/ It goes far beyond making files immutable. I haven&

They're just different. It's a different OS. I agree some things don't make sense but some things on Linux don't make sense either. It's just a long heritage of things that have organically grown. Consider 'dd&

That link has been posted here many times already. I use FreeBSD as a daily driver on my desktop. Very happy with it. My reasons to choose it were more that I feel like Linux has become a toy of big tech. If you look at the kernel contribut

But simple window managers for Wayland exist. Like sway (i3 clone for Wayland) Personally I also still use X11. Mainly because KDE on Wayland is currently broken on FreeBSD. And I'm not in a hurry anyway.

Work around how? As a developer? I'm sure there will be developer options for this too. After all, Microsoft is not going to make all the software themselves. But they could restrict this too. For a lot of platforms you now have to sig

Try to install a BitTorrent client on your iphone, or a game emulator, a sexually explicit game or even a browser with a different engine. All this has already happened since 2008 when the app store came out.
