But in your analogy, the base Duolingo app without its gamification is the gamification of learning a language. The streaks and points and everything else is a gamification of gamification of learning.

People should be allowed to game themselves. But this isn't language learners setting up little games for themselves to learn more. This is 1 version of gamification pushed on all of it's users, whether or not it would work for th

I disagree with this in principle. Gamification is something we should be very wary of because it is inherently bad. It reduces what you care about in an activity to points and a progress bar. Instead of sticking with language learning beca

Nobody is talking about replacing all cars overnight. You don't have to ban existing cars, they will phase themselves out. Give every X years and ban the sales of any non-hybrids for all but a few niche applications. Then in X+Y years

Even pricing CO2 output from burning fossil gas, plus a % for upstream leaks, and the same for car combustion will go a long way. Mind you people won't like that since we're so used to using the atmosphere as a free sewer. The ide

Some of these would benefit from changes (e.g. electric heating -> heat pump). Others would be better off with other changes. E.g. too much cooling? Consider better awnings, stronger blinds, or even IR rejecting films. As for the stove,

The lack of trust in the purchase comes from Apple, not from this seller. It's apple that's reaching into your device and force updating the firmware without your consent.

I'd wager that a 2021 MacBook, like the one I have, is stronger than the laptop used by majority of people in the world. Life on an entry or even mid level windows laptop is a very different world.
