I make some long notes for students that I am sometimes teaching. I use Jupyter Notebook, and use export to PDF feature. It renders the code, the text, and LaTeX equations perfectly. I have also written stuff in Markdown and converted them

A lot of people are wondering why MOOCs as a whole industry failed. I learned a lot from MOOCs, and can attribute much of my professional success to MOOCs. I can think of these reasons- 1. There are so much great content available for free,

I did most of it. Can recommend. Very nice intro, no fanaticism, great teaching, good pacing. Pretty much perfect for a beginner. Among the best ways to get into functional programming. I found it a bit slow for myself. But great content, n

Never measure your level of preparedness using conventional academic degrees. Just try it, if you can do it, you are ready, and if you can't, you aren’t.

Microsoft also has similar courses on IoT, and Data Science. I found the IoT one really nice [0], and it covers a lot of ground. [0]: https://github.com/microsoft/IoT-For-Beginners

Here's an issue with the said "Downloadload PDF" button: https://cacm.acm.org/issue/august-2023/ . But, when I click it, it doesn't download anything. But opens a page of topic hierarchy (?).

It takes me some days to a week or two to learn the syntax. I do that from a book or YT playlist. And I do it really fast, because, I know, if I forget something, I am just a Google search away from an answer. About the more advanced parts,

I wonder when something by Neal Stephenson will be made into a series/movie. He has so much good content.

Embrace a project-oriented approach. The project can be an app, a paper, or an article. Define what you want to do. Then start working on that. Embrace a top-down approach. Learn only on a need-to-know basis. When you need to know something

The idea of a Polymath is actually more relevant today than earlier years. Each field has grown into a silo with "experts" in one field barely knowing about the cutting edge of another field. Before what was the cutting edge was

Yes, I agree with that. But their focus in being sustainable is coming at the cost of basic functionality. The app has grown a lot slower, and became buggy, along with it having several dark patters pushing for monetization.

Exactly what GP and you are saying. If I am not the CTO, I am just a servant (based on the word "service"), whom you are paying to execute to do what you deem needs to be done. And no one reaches this level of cynicism in one day.

Honestly, TG was the most convenient messaging app that I had ever seen. I used it for the convenience. Until they focused all their energy, time to monetization features. The quality of rest of the app began to deteriorate.

Obsidian is what I stuck with after seriously trying 10+ notetaking apps. It has native clients for Linux, Android, and all files are plain MD. I can freely sync everything with third party apps. Total freedom.
