I have been a manager and a manager of managers and I think we really do not have good data on whether not "management" as a profession in software engineering really adds value. We're bad at quantifying the value of engineer

I have the same problem with Spotify, just the same stuff over and over and over. YouTube Music has a much more diverse recommendation approach than Spotify does in my experience.

The problem with that measurement is that you get extremely different numbers depending on what you're making. e.g. the density of memory is massively different to the density of logic.

Getting flashbacks to programming ABB ACS800 motor controllers with some hideous block diagram based thing many years ago. Oh god. We also had a ton of horrendous LabView spaghetti which was even worse.

The money they are laundering doesn't come from nowhere. It's the proceeds of other crimes, with real victims. A person laundering is an accessory to other crimes.

The lack of trailers support is not what means gRPC-Web needs to exist. It would be trivial for gRPC to support trailers-in-body like gRPC-Web does as a work around. The main problem for gRPC in the browser is the lack of HTTP/2 framin

Similarly you can estimate the time before sunset using your body. Hold out your arm and see how many fingers fit between the bottom of the sun and the horizon. Each finger is about 15 minutes.

At a previous job I moved a giant Postgres server to Dynamo and it was cheaper, faster and had better resiliency. Years later some people moved it back to SQL and made it cost 2x as much... Bad engineering is possible with all technologies.

The original prototypes for an RPi like thing by Upton were ATMega based [1] but I imagine with Upton's connections to Broadcom it made some sense both technically and financially. 1: https://web.archive.org/web/20

Are VCs funded by debt? I thought the funds would largely have come from existing cash or equities and were only down 15% from ATH on SPY. Is this just people being risk averse right now?

Spam is not a problem GitHub has ever had to seriously face so far but this sort of attack does seem like it could catch some users casually googling for libraries. If you impersonated all these real repos, made npm, pypi packages for them

Sometimes boundaries are good. Not all things should be easy. The question is which things need to be easy, and which things need to be hard? Often the answer is "we don't know" but there is still an optimal answer to the que

It's the same situation. The money doesn't legally belong to the reciever, but there is little you can do outside of the courts if they want to be a dick about it.
