I know plenty of people using Whatsapp and no people caring at all about its approach to privacy. I have not heard of those other two platforms outside of privacy-obsessed communities. Are real usage data disproving my anecdata?

Depends on the contry I guess, however for Central Europe that ranking seems just wrong. Java is likely to be #1 here. JS & PHP are much higher as well.

I'd say going with more than one language will just confuse beginner. I've seen many students struggle with the language soup schools cook for them.
