Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon all learned their lesson the hard way. Now they choose the correct path. Even the UAE warned Europe of the mistakes they were making.

Exactly, you can’t have people voting for popular things. Doing what the majority want is not democracy.

That's about how far high beams shine, so it's totally acceptable for cops to give people speeding tickets for doing 55 in a 55 at night with high beams on? https://getjerry.com/questions/how-far-do-low-beams-

How could the cop see them doing 55 if the conditions were zero vis?

Statistics show the least accidents occur at up to 15% over the speed limit, because that is the speed the good drivers go. I would fully support a speed limit system based on driving skill. However, since we have a purely speed based syste

It doesn't take much, just a rewrite rule on a frontend proxy. The nice thing about barebones engineering teams is you get barebones solutions. "Turns out it doesn't actually require that many people to run the site" - E

The best example is soldiers vs. mercenaries. Soldiers are highly regarded by society because society tells them they did an honorable thing because society didn't have to compensate them very well, and especially didn't have to c

With a high carbon footprint due to the price local labour is paid and the amount of stuff they purchase. When you buy from China and India you know people are only getting paid enough to just buy food and a small place to live, drastically

Chinese people get paid a lot less so they have a much smaller carbon footprint. It’s an environmental and economic win-win situation.

Maybe just measure CO2 in the atmosphere? And maybe put international pressure on the largest emitters? (China and India)

If we can increase our CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere we can become carbon neutral faster as increased concentrations drive forest growth and allow plants to grow in previously desert regions.

Less regulation is needed, no sane landlord is leaving their place empty in hopes of market based rental increases. Regulation creates perverse market incentives like what you see here.

Some of us live in free and warm countries with no matriarchical nanny state. Gov't doesn't take half my income, and doesn't charge me an arm and a leg to have a beer.

Those fluids are carcinogenic to drink, not to get on your skin. Don’t be a scold, show the benefit, which is it’s easier to clean up after work. Also latex gloves cause latex allergies frequently, vinyl gloves can be a good alternative.
