If you sanitize input, it implies you're inserting the input into an execution environment. If possible, it's better to treat data as data. In the Javascript eval case, it's definitely possible; just access the data through a variable inste

RequireJS manages load dependencies, not packages. It does not install and update them.

Nope, RequireJS can load any kind of Javascript dependency, even if it doesn't use the AMD format. You can even specify dependencies for non-AMD scripts in the configuration object.[0] As for define(), there's only one AMD method signature:

While this has been in the news everywhere, Microsoft itself hasn't mentioned anything about this. In fact, they still use 'Metro' on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/apps and their various Windows 8-related blogs.

But the third-generation iPad is just called that, 'iPad'. It's only referred to by Apple as 'new iPad' in contexts where its new features are described, or to distinguish it from the previous iPad, such as in the online store.

If you're interested in seeing what's happening, fire up Activity Monitor and hit Sample on the app when you see the beach ball. It records the call frames of all threads a couple of thousand times over a few seconds, so you can see what th

I believe it actually is a separate WebKit process per widget. Could you quantify the Dashboard memory usage? I'm using the Weather and Delivery Status widgets, and they're only using 16.7 MB and 28.9 MB. This is on Mountain Lion. edit: mos

Unused memory is wasted memory. As a user, you shouldn't care about memory usage if there's plenty available. It's far more interesting to see what happens in a low-memory situation.

Nothing is forcing you to use Metro. In fact, only apps that have an UI designed specifically for Metro will use the Metro environment. Everything else will run in windows outside of Metro, just like they do in Windows 7. Only the new start

iPad versions of apps aren't simply about scaling the UI. Take Twitter on Android tablets[0] for example, it's clear that merely enlarging the UI elements doesn't automatically result in an awesome UI on tablets. Similarly, an UI design tha

Apple still ships Java; it's just not installed by default. When you run a Java app without having Java installed, you get a prompt to automatically download and install Java.

Actually, this behavior you're referring to is a combination of trying to access a directory (to which a missing trailing slash is automatically appended) and the use of default pages (for Apache, that's the DirectoryIndex directive). Trail
