"but everyone does it and it's something that's been an accepted way to monitize software development" No piece of software that I have installed during the past two years has done so, and I sure wouldn't accept it as a way of funding devel

I bet there's someone here to tell that "it isn't that easy, you'll learn it the hard way", but this is something I intend to do as well. If I'm working with something, and I don't feel like I learn anything new or is simply unhappy, I'll q

I may not have made it clear in my post, but I have never downloaded music illegally for two reasons: 1) Spotify entered the market about the same time as I started sharing files, and that was good enough for me 2) I mostly listen to music

There's an unwillingness to adapt within the music and film industry. Spotify (and for those who live in the US, Netflix and Hulu) is a great start, and last time I checked, they were dominating over piracy. The new technologies are competi

I think skymt got it right. Polls have shown that as Spotify has been growing on the Swedish market during the recent years, music-piracy has declined enormously. What they did right, was to provide a service that was easier to use than pir

I was strictly against piracy a few years ago. Nowadays it's a daily activity. What happened? I realized what the media companies were actually doing, how DRM hurts the people who actually pay for the product and all these enormous sums the

That's interesting. One of the main reasons I use* Spotify is because it has a native client and not a web interface. *I'm actually currently in a period when I listen to music which is likely to never show up at any professional music serv

I do find it a bit ironic that the article is published on a site with the XHTML Transitional DOCTYPE. "It’s the Future, Get With It!" ;-)

Sweet story. A part fell of my earphones a few days ago, exposing the water-sensitive internals. I think I'll order a pack of Sugru and see if I can fix them myself :)

"It’s been a long journey for Hunch. The company was founded in 2008." Knowing how long it can take for a small company with a good idea and product to launch, I wouldn't really call that a long journey. Still, congratulations to them. I ho
