The Beatles (well, their label Apple Records) was in a long running trademark dispute with Apple [Computer] which went back and forth for decades. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Corps_v_Apple_Computer If you ever wondered why it took

Great pictures. I'm going to guess that the photographer used flour as the snow? Maybe not, it seems almost too white for flour. Most appear to be Star Wars Lego but the third- and second-to-last images almost look like cosplay (almost).

I've done a fair amount of Scrum and have seen it succeed and fail. Scrum works and is great, but like most tools it works only for specific types of jobs. I wouldn't use Scrum in a situation where the final product is somewhat defined and

Remember, this isn't just about Mojang naming their game 'Scrolls', this is about them doing that AND applying for a trademark on the name 'Scrolls' for video games. If this was just about the name of a game then it wouldn't be much of an i

As a developer with a slight interest in design, this is great. Definitely bookmarked for future use. I can think of just one suggestion outside of what others have suggested: I'd love it if I could get it as an image instead of CSS. Sin

The grieving process is very important and when it is subverted by the continued opening of woulds, it can cause problems. There is a great This American Life about this, where a 16 year olds mother dies but left her notes to be given to h

To be completely honest, I've said for years that women are the single greatest reason for unemployment. When 50 years ago the majority of workers were male and then you almost double the work force, you can try to have enough jobs but tho

I'm not misunderstanding the argument at all. I work with a bunch of good and great programmers and we don't touch pointers - at all. I would bet that without heading to the internet and re-learning pointers they wouldn't be able to do ev

The Model T is not a very good car, even considering the time. It's about as simple transmission as you can get, terrible brakes, a gas tank under the front seat (how convenient), would roll over in heartbeat, you'd get soaked when it rain

Worse or better? With only 10k per zip you'd get very close to a 100% unique identifier. I realized after looking at both Portland and Seattle zip codes that they seem to be distributed better than the less dense areas so you do have very

Putting it to a non-scientific test, where I grew up is within the zip code of 98632. From the 2000 census there are 47,202 within that zip code. This is probably a good average city for America - not too big, not too small. Based on the
