I pity those in this thread saying that their fiancee wouldn't listen to reason about this. Karma be damned but women as a whole are swayed more by marketing then men are. They've been sold the princess wedding, the diamond ring, the bra

Effectiveness? Like click-through rate? It's irrelevant in this model, really. The popunder loads the page that loads all of the other ad-clicking domain pages, and since it's a popunder it's probably not noticed until the browser has loa

Sadly the Supreme Court has been a bit to pro-government to my tastes lately. I'd have to disagree. We've seen GPS tracking thrown out and other curbs on invasions of privacy. This court seems very interested in broadly defining privacy

I'm glad I'm not the only one who instantly thought of Futurama. This does seem like a food product for people who are too lazy to make even a simple meal and clean afterwards.

There's an apparent pressure from publishers to create always-online games Maybe for something like Diablo 3 but there's a level of solo play that defines a game like Sim City.

On Earth, it's fine. Communicating with elements outside of Earth, the speed of light is way too slow. Talking with Mars is anywhere from 3 minutes to a 22 minute delay[1]. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to control a rover or talk with M

Is there really a plan, though? I mean the 'Eagle Plan' seems much more viable than the 'Fellowship Plan'. The fellowship was so bad it even included a couple humans who were pre-disposed to the rings affects and, as such, didn't last too

You could also watch a Youtube[1] video explaining (near the end) what happens when field conditions change - fog, mud, etc. [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh9af_gXxlM

By 'green-screen' I meant that they take a small snapshot of the field and use those colors as a replacement. A scan before the game would do them very little good, especially in open-air stadiums where game conditions can change immediate

The NFL strictly uses positional cameras. The first down markers, ads, and other on-field graphics are only available from specific views. It's actually a very low-tech approach. College and NFL football typically has 3 to 4 stationed cam

Well, people want what they want. And with dogs there's a ton of variation so getting what you want - right now - is more important to some people. With cats, not so much. Most people want kittens, which there are always plenty of at th

You can pick and choose any number of 'wrongful' or 'unjust' litigation. There's a ton. HSBC is irrelevant to Swartz. It's obvious that not every legal action is socially desirable (or "moral", for the sake of brevity) and not every ille

"The law" isn't some monolith, though -- it's defined by every institution (every person?) enforcing it, and every decision made in carrying out "justice". There are laws which may or may not be levied against us in certain situations. Y
