I think what everyone likes to point out re: MacPorts isn't MacPorts itself, but the software that it compiles, that needs work still.

But it then adds in x86_64 support, which brings the size back up. The smaller files are likely to be from not installing all the resources (localizations, drivers, etc) at once if not needed.

Why does this have to come built into the iPod? Whats wrong with a case that's retractable or has a dock? Why not have a pair of (sun)glasses with headphones built in or something along those lines? There's a lot more generic ways to go abo

Everyone's welcome to having their own ideal device. Unfortunately for you, the people at Cupertino who design the iPod's don't agree with your sentiments as to what would make the device better and haven't made retractable headphones. Migh

Google never said that their application was rejected: Apple did not approve the Google Voice application we submitted six weeks ago to the Apple App Store. (As pointed out by Gruber, over at http://daringfireball.net/2009/08/apples_fcc_

He had a legitimate point: this may not be appropriate for HN. (note: I'm not saying its not appropriate, thats not for me to decide). I, personally, just don't think the OP worded his post as well as it could have been. And FWIW, I have

Just so y'all know, Apple's already "fixed" (or "broken", depending on your POV) this way of enabling tethering for 3.1, http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/15/iphone-3-1-beta-2-disabl...
