I'd (almost) hoped to see a way to edit the iPhone's bookmark file from my desktop machine. If you use MobileMe, you can sync bookmarks from your Mac to your iPhone.

Its easier to take down a website than to remove a book from someone's bookshelf. It might be easier to copy a website, but, content gets lost from the web all the time.

Personally, I dislike the "more" way of viewing comments. I like to scroll with the arrow keys or page up/down (well, fn + arrow). If I have to move the mouse over to "show more," I'm just as likely to hit cmd + w. Especially if its "more"

Not too much of a time sink for me. When in the office, I only really go on HN when I want to get away from the task at hand for a moment. This is either because I'm stuck on a problem, or just finished something big and need a quick break.

The site's using Live HTTP Streaming -- the video is chunked up, rather than a single file to download. http://27c3.iphoneblog.de/recordings/4295/adaptive.m3u8 is the playlist file. You should be able to open it in VLC to watch.

If you're going for safety, you should check to make sure that the string can use the particular encoding, rather than assuming that it will work. CFStringIsEncodingAvailable() will do that for you :)
