On an unrelated note; what's with the over use of the word "narrative" in this article? It seems to be a fad lately for people to use it to sound smart (I guess) but you'd think the editor of the NY Times would've

Actually, I my understanding is its perfectly acceptable in many Middle-Eastern countries for men to cry openly. They'll also hold another mans hand while having a conversation with him apparently.

Same here. Take crying for example. In our society we're seen as weak if we cry. Except crying is a perfectly valid human emotional response. Sure, we naturally don't cry as often as women but I still can't understand how we

So, the Geneva convention is basically a lip-service treaty only enforced when its convenient? Sounds like most treaties come to think of it.

True, but my point is there aren't many languages are expressive yet succinct enough to parse themselves in so little code.

Rebol ( http://www.rebol.com ) and subsequently Red ( http://red-lang.org ) are great languages whose purpose is to eliminate the needless complexity in software engineering. For example; one can write a Rebol parser in

SSRI's have impacts (albeit not as long lasting) for reasons we don't understand yet they get dolled out like bread. Sure, you don't see visions while taking them but the side effects are no less profound. After years of per

A local Credit Union had CAPTCHA's like, "4n1m4l" and (believe it or not) "b4nK3r". When I complained they snidely remarked that they were pretty sure they knew how to handle security. That may be, but they no long

I suspect a lot of people didn't take the time to actually learn Perl which is why there's so much "there's-more-than-one-way-to-do-it" Perl code in the wild. For whatever reason, I went the PHP route and I can say

This seems really short-sighted to me. Amazon is going to punish their own customers because of a feud they have with their competitors? How is that good? More and more I question whether I want to continue doing business with Amazon.

Everything Amazon does with the Fire product line I find to be terrible. The Kindle Paperwhite is a delight to use but the Fire is beyond frustrating and, often as not, feels like a device designed for the sole purpose of parting me with m

Yes, CO has a tax free day on cannabis only. My understanding is they reaped too much in taxes and their laws are such that they have to give the overage back. The tax-free day is a way to do that.

Your argument would be right if it weren't of a very large straw man persuasion. Nobody is saying an individual is being sold your personal information. But when Coke comes along and wants it, Facebook is selling. But even that'
