Rebol (http://www.rebol.com http://www.rebol.com) and subsequently Red (http://red-lang.org http://red-lang.org) are great languages whose purpose is to eliminate the needless complexity in software engineering. For example; one can write a Rebol parser in 10 lines of Rebol code!

- nickpsecurity 11y agoThey are if you can write about anything in fewer lines of code and that code is more comprehensible. That means the language is efficient at expressing programmer's ideas.
- pmoriarty 11y agoNow comprehensibility, that is indeed a bright sign of code quality.
- Zelphyr 11y agoTrue, but my point is there aren't many languages are expressive yet succinct enough to parse themselves in so little code.
