I too got tired of the yelling and the fire-and-brimstone-you’re-gonna-burn-in-hell if you’re not God-fearing. That word: “fear”. They were using it as a tool to manipulate. Finally, I realized, “Why does God want me to be scared all the ti

I've had the exact opposite reaction to the comparison between Google and DuckDuckGo. I use the latter daily and only rarely revert to Google. Even then I usually don't find the results to be any better and often find them to be

It’s not you dying that’s the problem with your statement so much as the other people you’re going to kill because of your choice not to get vaccinated. That’s one step away from a family member of mine saying recently, “You all can live in

As a somewhat aside; the author points to something about finding therapy that I think most people don't understand which is: you need to find a therapist you connect with and usually you have to see a few before you will find one. It&

I see the avoidance of vendor lock-in as a way to prevent Amazon from gaining too much power compared to their competition (they already do, but you see my point, hopefully) I’m designing a system right now and I’m specifically not allowing

My uncle spent some time in prison in the late 80's and early 90's and was able to learn FoxPro while there. In addition to it being hard to find work having a criminal record, by the time he got out, everybody was transitioning

Data collection like that is harmless until it isn't, and then there's no turning back. So, no, it's not harmless. I'm assuming by your use of the word "we're" that you work for Google?

What is the benefit of Telegram over other platforms like Signal? I haven't been on it in awhile but was quite turned off by all the "HODL!" channels that it seemed to be filled with at the time.

I would like to add that you'd be foolish to use my post as a reason for building a system to scale to high levels prematurely. I agree with the original article that doing so bogs you down in needless complexity and wastes time and r

Many people keep saying something to the effect of, "There is a right time to scale a system and we need to focus on that." This is true. There is a right time to scale up. In my experience, you rarely know when that might be

Complexity is never the right answer. Complexity, in my experience, comes from two things: The person building that system doesn't understand the problem well enough and/or equates complexity with quality. Neither are good thing
