OpenGL is not being emulated, it's being implemented. OpenGL is just the API and specifications, it's up to individual graphics hardware vendors to put a conforming OpenGL implementation in their driver. Ideally it would all be do

The worst part is that it used to allow panning outside the canvas. At some point, they broke it in fullscreen (or non-fullscreen, I don't remember). Then they broke it in the other mode. They also removed the option to hide all window

I wonder if someone could come along and make an app to connect people possessing home chargers with people traveling long distances in EVs, like a mixture between GasBuddy and AirBnB.

I think I've read that congestion (at least highway congestion) is mostly caused by overbraking.

In Seattle Microsoft also runs its own substantial bus service, "the Connector". There are so many Microsoft employees commuting in and out of Redmond every day that it makes a lot of sense.

It's really about bringing any language that can target LLVM IR to the web, and that's more than just C++. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LLVM#Front_ends C++ just happens to be a popular choice because there a

So you just CPU-rasterize out to a buffer, and blit it to the screen. After the initial render, it's equivalent to the PNG. The application essentially decompresses its assets on launch.

Look into the Clang vector extensions. They're very similar to GLSL/OpenCL vectors. They implement some very basic operator overloading too, so they're much less annoying that calling a function for everything. I made a simpl

DisplayLink already has a working wireless adapter for the Vive. I've tried it, and it's really good. No need for gimmicky backback computers or non-replacable headset computers.

Lua has a GC, but it's incremental and tunable. Video game scripting is actually one of the biggest use cases for Lua for that reason. Lua is also one of the fastest scripting languages, especially if you can get away with using LuaJIT

Imagine all memory is a big array. A pointer is just an index into that array. A pointer dereference is like accessing something at an array index. A pointer to a pointer is array index to a location where you'll find another array ind

I think that is because, at their core, computers parse language (be it computer or human). At some point you need to input that language, which is a task keyboards and command-lines excel at. It's the lowest common denominator, so it

What app are you using for the terminal editor? I just recently pulled out my old iPad 1 and charged it. I was marveling at how well-designed it is, and how much I miss the simpler OS that runs on it. It's since been supplanted by my i

There will always be people who are just "better". They'll learn faster, remember more, and generally make you feel inadequate by comparison. There are also people who seem like that, but aren't. These people have prior
