Would you count Rothko under the solid colour canvasses? On paper they don't look like much, but the few that I've seen in real life somehow still really left an impression on me.

Indeed, it's a nice setup but it's not what you expect from the title. You cannot put on a cap with three people and then start playing a game of Tetris by thinking and imagining alone. The game is on a screen for everyone. The bl

The article states that "In 2015, a total of 30,000 people nominated 590 famous visual artists for the £20 note, before JMW Turner was selected with the help of focus groups." so this doesn't appear to be the first time the p

How are people supposed to know all this about a new device that they have only read stories about? Even then, a surprising amount of people in my well educated affluent high tech bubble tape their laptop webcams closed because they don

Yeah, with the important difference that in sailing you lose speed (and heel) when heading into the wind, whereas a plane will go even faster towards the ground... Scary!

But TurboTax has many other incentives besides making tax filings more efficient, including reselling user data, targeted ads for their own products, they might even have reasons to nudge you towards certain options and dark-pattern others.

I guess the difference is that classic videogames make their money by a single purchase upfront. Modern MMO/F2P games need the player to get hooked and spend their money on loot boxes and outfits.

I've been wondering whether framing it like that (work vs life) is making things worse. I do it myself too, but what if those 8+ hours a day could actually also be leisure? Coworkers with young kids actually joke about coming to work t

To me it feels oddly pretentious and out of touch... Ozymandian I guess. Even reminds me a bit of the calendar that started 97 years ago: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Era_Fascista
