Ebay takes $2.00 minimum (~ 20%) from selling a $9.99 book plus you have to pay for payment processing yourself. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html Payment processing with PayPal is another 6% (2.9% + $0.30) of the $9.99 price (and

Why does everyone (even blogs that should know better) think that in-app purchases are the same as in-app subscription purchases?? The Kindle is brought up, but what does Amazon sell through the Kindle on subscription??

First you say "Apple would still have released the iphone" and then "...they [patents] do allow entrenched interests protect their market from upstarts." You seem to be contradicting yourself. When Apple released the iPhone, they were the u

"Or that Apple wouldn't have released the iPhone, which is a cash cow for them, if they couldn't patent it?" Patents were definitely part of the plan from the start or Jobs wouldn't have stood on stage in front of a giant 200+ slide at the

iPhone 3G has an ARM11 620 MHz processor (underclocked to 412 MHz). I'm not sure what a Samsung S is (Galaxy S? Nexus S?), but if you are referring to a Galaxy S, the Galaxy S is quite a bit faster.

If they went with Android, what would distinguish their tablet from the 120 other tablets demoed at CES? Besides, the Honeycomb demo (imo) did not look nearly as nice as the TouchPad demo.

I wish they had gone with a different name to distinguish itself more from the iPad. It's like when the rumors started coming out that Apple was going to call their tablet a 'slate'. Even Ballmer stood on stage to show off the 'Slate PC'.

I believe 1Password is just using the Dropbox API, in which case your credentials are indeed needed. I don't think it's possible for 1Password to use the Dropbox App to do the integration with the Dropbox service, at least not at the prese

Why a generation and a half ahead? Is it so that when the iPad 2 is released (in a couple months), one generation ahead of the first iPad, you'll say the Xoom is still 1/2 generation ahead of the iPad2?

The iPad/IE6 part is just thrown in for shock value. HTML5 not supporting everything this guy wants has nothing to do with IE6-like crappiness.

There are tons of brute force ssh bots. All they do is try every password in their password list. If you want to see one, search for brute force ssh bot on YouTube and watch script kiddies teach other script kiddies how to use them.

Not necessarily true or they would have stopped shipping things like the terminal.app a long time ago (or including python, ruby, etc.). Even apps like Automator are probably out of the scope of 'laymen'.
