That's economics. There's no such thing as a free lunch. If HN gives out free API access and holds the line, them I don't see a problem with it. Personally I do think you should charge some minimal amount so people don't

Honestly? The early part of this week, Reddit reminded me of what it was like 7 years ago. Around 2016. Not sure what changed. Maybe r/TheDonald or the pandemic made everyone flock there. The weight of the bigger subs seem to pollute t

If this is true, this sounds like a bad deal for Reddit. If I were them, I'd want my cut.

I love the concept of notebooks (as referred to in this article). It reminds me of the way HyperCard made it very easy for non-techies to create something that looks great to share out with the world. I'm honestly surprised nobody else

Why did people not get this apoplectic when Twitter and Facebook killed 3rd party clients?

This is so wholesome and has generally worked for us. I have one thing to add if you can pull it off: get a dog, and walk the dog around then neighborhood. I've met so many cool people that way.

I have one tablet from each ecosystem and user switching is really handy! On top of that, it's nice to have a work profile where you can just shut it off and get no notifications from any work apps. I haven't looked to see if my i

Those same problems still happen in Scrum and it's very hard to get out of duplication hell once the backlog gets sufficiently large. I personally think Scrum is theoretically great if done right and with smart people, but that is rare

This is strangely the only website that I’ve had to completely turn off in all of my news feeds. Credit to the tech companies, because it worked. Haven’t seen a BuzzFeed listicle in almost a decade.

The first -- and only -- time I ever soldered was on a job interview! The company was making gastric pacemakers and wanted to see if I could do it. One of my favorite job interviews for some reason. I have a tough time with the "code i

Do you feel that the trade-off is worth it? I constantly go back-and-forth over my head about whether or not, it’s better to deal with what you’re doing in the rural areas or if the amenities are worth the pain of living near a big city.

How much productivity has humanity collectively lost due to using QWERTY over DVORAK or some other interface? And we might be stuck with this for eternity.

This is a great point. I haven't run into an easier visual prototyping system that's accessible and fairly close to what the end user would see from an interaction perspective. Did this way back in undergrad. Used VB to quickly vi

Of all the classes I had the hardest time grokking, it was physics. I really wish I had visualizations like this growing up to help me out.

These are the original low-code tools. Easy to pick up and your average citizen developer could figure it out with some trial and error. So much lost productivity due to whatever happened in the next several decades.

It's a weird way of doing it though, right? This will surely push away your better workers who have options. You're going to be left with the worse employees who have no other options.
