Windows 11 OneDrive that just decides to backup files without consent was certainly daring. Look I am computer savvy enough to "fix" Windows I can live with it but I advised my mom to get an Apple laptop.

Corporations never want to pay for the problems that they cause. They would rather go bankrupt and start a new company.

My brother used to have a highly paid corpo job. Then he realised he didn't want to spend the rest of his life as a corpo drone and now he works 3 days a week. Ofcourse in Euro land that still gives you a pension and healthcare package

The things companies can get away with in America is insane. Amazon really feels like Weyland-Yutani.

I read once that UK submarine commanders had the authority to launch if they couldn't contact London and the BBC was no longer broadcasting. Makes sense the idea that your entire war plan hinges on one guy is stupid.

It's the economy stupid! The US before WW2 was a regional power. After WW2 it was the only country still standing. This led to decades of unprecedented GDP growth. I try to warn people about what it means when Asian countries have 30 y

I don't mind Amazon using the water if they pay for it just like the rest of us. Unfortunately companies tend to negotiate special deals. And for what? How many local people actually get jobs in a date centre? A few security guards, cl

I'm sure they also did it for the nuclear weapons program. My own country never wanted nukes and they discovered large deposits of natural gas so that was it. After all nuclear energy was never as cheap as they envisioned in the 1950s.

Google is still held back by the fact that their Pixel line isn't selling. They can't dictate terms to Samsung or Xiaomi. Apple owns the hardware and software.

Our modern Western culture was made by the Victorians. They invented everything middle class. Charles Dickens literally made the Christmas we know today.

A good point. The people who sit in parliament are very often just machines of the party. Yes yes TECHNICALLY they are elected by the people and have a mandate but your career is over if you speak out. You have to be a very special kind of

Tricky. Yes you'd think that playing China and America against eachother would be a smart move. But Americans have a proven track record of killing South American leaders and invading their countries. Perhaps one day, god willing, the
