I have many diverse friend groups. And HN is lot lot more anti AI then even the worst of the non technical groups I am in. e.g. [1] is so detached from reality and got to front page for multiple days recently. Or [2]. I have never seen a po

Why do these kind of articles getting into front page in HN everyday. There is nothing substantive and these are the empty kind of articles that anti AI folks should be against. No one is forcing you or pressuring you to not call friend to

Where did 4 order of magnitude even come from? If I were to guess it is just 5x larger based on the pricing, so not even 1 order of magnitude. > Mythos is not 4 orders of magnitude larger than Opus Again can you define this. How would 4

Lot of the things aren't facts that could be stated. No one can just see the dictionary or translation of words and start talking in that language. There isn't a clear definition of what is knowledge and what is intelligence. Is b

What do you mean by 3-4 orders of magnitude better? Was Einstein 3-4 order of magnitude better than us? Meaningful in the sense it could find security vulnerabilities in browser and kernel that >99% of the engineers couldn't find.

At least they show competitors in any benchmark, compared to OpenAI which likes to pretend that there isn't any competitor.

Those numbers don't even track even in the same sentence. If it is $2T/year by the end of 2029, it would be something < $6T cumulative in 3 years.

Did you even try to verify your claims. I tested it on few translations on wikipedia articles using [1] and it takes 15-20% more tokens for Norwegian. English performs the best because there is more data in English and high quality sources

Everything you say apply to the AI. Even more so that there are very good open models which anyone can host and get almost exact same power.

This is so obviously wrong I don't know how this theory got popular. OpenAI had everything from compute to brand name to contracts. Sam wasn't the reason the money was coming, employees and OpenAI were. Even if Sam bought them mon

The irony is that this is the most AI generated, agreeable and no substance article. And the only ones who are upvoting it are the people who are against those. Does so many people in HN just upvote by title?

If the collude to say make the price $1000 for a component that costs them $100(including opportunity costs), then either a new company or a greedy company in the collusion can make their price secretly $900 and get massively more profit. R

Because house is part of economy. Crypto went from $4T market cap to $2T and no wide impact was observed. Same will be true for $4T AI market cap.

Why can't someone ask what happened in Ilya's mind. Firing Sam and then signing the solidarity letter of Sam to leave OpenAI if was fired. Other than that, all other information seems kind of just going over the surface.

But inference is increasing dramatically. Google says they now do inference of 3.2 quadrillion tokens per month, 7x increase in a year. Claude code and others are here to grow even if they don't do any further training.

Well China is consistently 6 months behind the frontier labs(possibly because they can they harvest data from released frontier models). If the scaling continues, US will win, but if not then China will win as the models will converge.
