I don't even consider Flash as part of the web. For me, the whole web ecosystem is about open, human-readable, text-based formats – namely HTML, CSS, JS – backed by several high quality (open source) runtimes available for virtually any pl

Interesting. My child is 1.5 years old and perhaps she will never buy any vehicle. "Dad, people actually owned these 20 years ago?" Another example: so far, she has never seen a photo album, but can browse photos on my iPhone.

I don't remember using a payphone ever, and I'm not that young (born in 1982). Got my first cellphone at age of fifteen (1997). Before that I lived in rural area where payphones didn't exist. Nowadays, when abroad, I prefer Skype over wif

Well, if the site will have any success, it tells that Mac users value platform-loyality much more than say, Windows users. Hey, got an idea: dating site for Linux users! I guess the male/female ratio would been about 5000/1.

An Apple device required for login! If anything, the existance of this site tells a lot about Mac users. Too bad I'm not a single myself.

In near future, after IE9 has been launched, every major browser has (sort of) CSS3/HTML5 support. To prevent IE7 & IE8 becoming the new "IE6" for the next half decade, it's important to let them die. As a web developer, prefer graceful

Indeed. Any medium (regardless of dot size) will appear razor sharp when viewed from far enough (so that one can't see individual dots). Of course, if there are enough dots in particular physical area, the human eye is incapable to see a si

I can fully understand why Apple promotes Safari. The demos are a showcase of bleeding edge CSS, namely 3D transitions, currently implemented only by Safari. No doubt other browsers will implement them too. See http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-3d

Just for comparison: in Finland unlimited / max speed 3G costs about 14 € per month (roughly equals $20). Tethering is allowed. We have population density of 16/km2 (32/km2 in the States). I wonder what is the sweet spot of population densi

So true. That's why use Safari & Mail.app on OS X and before that, Konqueror & KMail on KDE. (They are great apps, too.)

A netbook? Apple doesn't make one :-) The point is that I'm going to have the iPad anyway and was thinking if it could replace a laptop, because I avoid carrying multiple devices.

Since Skype uses proprietary protocol and is the most popular VoIP service by huge margin, I wouldn't call the market entirely free. They almost have a monopol, sort of.

Then moneytize transparently, i.e. based on true costs. Charging for skype-to-skype calls is fine as long as clients are treated equally whether they were using dial-up, wifi, satellite or avian carriers. The type of client's connection is

I was actually considering getting an iPad + bluetooth keyboard for remote (web) coding. Ditched the idea because the available "IDEs" are not yet very matured (bought a MacBook instead). I'm sure this will change in future. An IDE for web

Not fair. I pay my operator a monthly fee for mobile data (10 € for unlimited 384 kb/s including two SIMs / devices, to be exact). Skype pays for their incoming/outgoing data – it doesn't cost extra for them whether the data is originated f

Fully agree with Jobs. Hand writing recognization may have sounded fine idea, and is rather easy to properly implement, but the thing is that hand-writing is dying skill. Although I learnt to hand-write in childhood and did it for 15 years,
