You don't need to give money to a cop to make that happen. People that have no money are an easy target for any kind of abuse, including from cops. They have no lobby. No media outrage if a poor person is falsely imprisoned. No lawyers

I don't believe we're in disagrement. Yes, there's bad management which will resist all attempts to improve things. Quit, move on. You won't fix the place. I'm specifically pushing against the stance of > That&#x

I’m a tech person by trade and spent more than a decade in operations - the ones that need to deal with the results of it all. And I can tell you that I’ve met a fair share of developers and ops people that would just ignore all constraints

“managing” their workspace and surroundings is the jobs of every senior person in a workplace. Having a line manager that cares and is good at their job helps, but if technical folks believe they can just care about the technical part of a

If by "no standard" you mean that there is no language specification for rust, then there is no standard. However, a language specification is not sufficient to verify program correctness, nor is it required. A standard may (and t

Canada has roughly 40 million inhabitants, Scandinavia (if you include Finland) less than 30 million. Even combined, that is pretty much exactly the population of France alone, or about 15 million less than Germany alone - and neither of th

The system was obviously very much not working. Some of the individuals that caused this acted on negligence, some careless ass-covering, some probably maliciously for their own gain. But there are a few key points that made it essentially

I consider “the full blame should be on the Post Office, and those involved.” a dangerous position. A systems must hold even if individuals fail or behave in malicious ways, and focusing strongly on individual culpability tends to overshado

A large chunk of the blame goes to the legal system as well, especially the assumption that computer records are correct, unless proven otherwise - which is a nearly impossible uphill battle for the defendants in such cases. I can recommend

Turning seawater into salt by evaporating it works in areas where evaporation is substantially higher than precipitation, so mostly in dry, warm areas. It won’t work very well in Northern Europe for example. Salt needs to be kept moderately
