Very interesting that webOS keeps showing up on top -- notifications, multitasking, openness, overall polish and design -- when it has almost zero market share. Hopefully HP can continue what Palm started and make the very nice a better com

I have what's at http://chpwn.com/apps , but I don't consider most of them enough of an "app" in the traditional sense. I put up "four", but that's just a random guesstimate of how much the work I've put in would translate into actual apps

Somewhat ironic: AllBusiness, which is #25 on that list, has a relatively high-quality (non-content-farm) post that praises this exact change: http://www.allbusiness.com/technology/software-services-appl...

As someone who, at one point, tried to write for Palm OS: wow, that must be awful.

It's also used by Apple in all of their Cocoa and CoreFoundation code. An example from CoreFoundation would be their constant CFAllocator references: const CFAllocatorRef kCFAllocatorDefault; const CFAllocatorRef kCFAllocatorSyste

Note that this isn't even all their private APIs: Just the private classes. They also use tons of undocumented, private APIs on public classes -- some of which are very useful.

I think he's referring to TTNavigator, which is a really cool idea (and an idea I stole for my use in Cydia.mm, fwiw).

I bet they're waiting for the iPad 2, and will price it to be competitive with whatever Apple announces.

Facebook did the same with friend requests. Actually denying a friend request is a 15-minute-long affair that, I would bet, almost nobody actually does. It works, though. "Not Now", most likely, has replaced "Deny Request" for good.

I don't hand-code XIB files: I don't use XIB files. I do use Interface Builder for laying out a basic UI design, it's much better than sketching it by hand. But when it comes to code, it's much easier to have everything in once place. Overr

Does anyone actually use Interface Builder for serious iPhone development? I find the lack of control it gives you infuriating, especially when the fix would be only a line or two of code. I've seen some larger projects that use it when loo

I hate iTunes, but I've tried and failed to find a usable replacement on Linux. The best I found was Banshee, but the UI's not great and it's quite unstable :(.

Email Bankruptcy: I've declared email bankruptcy, sent out a message to re-send the email if it's still important, and I'll try and be better about replying quickly this time.

They know that they can't get the game they want because their phone isn't "new enough", when the game just depends on the Android 2.3 gaming improvements and could easily run on their hardware.

Maybe they aren't evil and keeping it from you (not "releasing" it), instead, don't have a working version they could just press a button and release?

This input device is, of course, your iPhone or iPod touch. The decent-ness of said device is questionable, however. (But, it'd be perfect for Angry Birds TV!)

This is useless: task_for_pid() still works, and there's many public kernel extensions out there that just remove this feature entirely.
