A bit pedantic, but migrations are provided by Ecto [1], not by Phoenix. You don't need Phoenix to use Ecto. https://hexdocs.pm/ecto/Ecto.html

Note that Airbus has the option to buy the whole program from Bombardier Inc. and the Québec government. I'm trying to find out the exact terms. There is some speculation that Airbus doesn't want to push the CSeries/A220 too

Not a pilot, but angle of attack sensors are used with flight envelope protection systems in Airbus airliners (and probably newer Boeing planes too, though I'm not sure). Take for instance this particular incident on an A321 aircraft [

If you read about Air France Flight 447, at some point instruments data went so ridiculously far from expected values that the stall warning stopped, because the computer did exactly what is suggested here: rejecting ridiculous data. So try

The most common size in France (where I'm originally from) is the B-segment: Renault Clio, Citroën C3, etc. So 4.1~4.2 meters in length and 1.7~1.8 meters in width. Model 3 is much longer: 4.7 meter in length and quite a bit larger at

They started delivery of the Model 3 in Europe in February. But Tesla's cars are quite a bit too bulky for many European countries, where Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe dominate sales.

Like all sensors out there in the atmosphere, icing is an issue. So not only are they error prone, but failures are sometimes not independent. Airbus planes from the A320 family have three such sensors, but it so happened that on November 5

There are new medicine/procedures/tests coming out all the time, we (as software engineers) are just not aware of it. On the other hand is winforms development that different from react/node.js? On the surface it is very di

Stupid question: would that really be better (from a privacy perspective) than a smartphone, without using the "smart" part of it? Arguably by using a dumb phone you would avoid sharing data with either Apple or Google, but you wi

The problem is very simple: the A330NEO is not selling well at all. It was supposed to be a cheap alternative to the 787: not quite as good, but much cheaper. The problem is that Boeing has managed to reduce the manufacturing cost of the 78

The ET pilots were trained with the MCAS system. But to speculate: ET pilots seem to have experience issues before the MCAS would be active, so it's not unlikely that there was another issue with the plane, compounded by the MCAS kicki

The 757 production line doesn't exist anymore, so a 757MAX is completely off the table. Boeing even refused to build more passengers 767 even though the line is still running (for freighters and KC-46). The 797 as it is currently showe

Grounding a newly release airliner is not new. It's only news because of the two crashes and 300 victims. I'm pretty sure these airlines are careful and still have some of the older 737/A320 that these MAX were supposed to re

Indeed: in the aviation world the philosophy is that things have to be proven safe [1] to be allowed to fly, rather than proven unsafe to be banned. In that regard, two similar crashes a few months apart is enough to worry of a design flaw.

The problem is that you can't disable that system: the aircraft is not certifiable without, that is to say the risk of stalling is considered too high without that system. Because that system may have caused two planes to crash doesn

777-8 has 53 sales, and 777-9 has 273 sales, so a total of 326 firm orders. The 777-10 is not for sale, so it's certainly not selling well... 326 firm orders is pretty good, don't get me wrong, but the order book doesn't look

And given A350-1000 and 777-8/9 order books, very few situations call for even these... Most of the traffic growth is being eaten by the smaller planes that are getting quite a bit bigger: 50 regional seaters are being replaced by 100
