I find it alarming that releases are EOL after 1 year, whereas RedHat Linux releases are supported for 10 years.

I've used FreeBSD since the 6.0 days, and agree that it's absolutely rock solid. The main problem is that the support cycles are way too short, for instance 10.0 is EOL in 4 months (1 year after it was released), whereas RHEL is E

I've been using a combination of Hacker Web [1] and TheNews [2]. Hacker Web IMO is perfect for browsing on mobile devices, whereas TheNews is great for desktop viewing. [1] http://cheeaun.github.io/hackerweb/ [2]

I'm surprised these PoS systems aren't managed with automatic updates, since the merchant service providers (along with the banks) are usually the ones losing money if they get hit with chargebacks.
