Ill reiterate on yet another thread that the reason people are worse off, is the purchasing power of the worthless fiat dollar. Take a quarter from pre-1965 when we still made constitutionally sound money made with gold or silver. The silve

ZFS send/recv to an offsite ZFS box is a backup. Replacing tape systems. It's incremental. Its compressed. It's faster.

Power 9? Last I looked no one was even selling power 8 on the retail scale. Tyan had some finished? Systems kind of sort of available? And that was it. I thought IBM had stated they wanted to challenge and take Intel on in the data center a

I think what bothers me most is this person owns a computer related business. He is actively endangering people's data out of willful ignorance. It's highly unethical.

Consumer hardware is notriously busted. Even most of the enterprise hardware isn't flawless. Firmware bugs etc. "Your hardware is actively trying to kill your data and ZFS job is to prevent it." To paraphrase Allan Jude.

Sun's event ports are so similar to kqueue cantrill has said they should have just adopted kqueue. And there are not different views on zones and jails. They are the same thing. Sun just took the idea of jails and flushed them out furt

I think your argument lies more in the fact that linux is non standard to Unix. They have gone their own way and made it difficult to transfer knowledge. Ask anyone who has ported a Linux application to any other Unix. It's at best a P

Filesystems are HARD, see the plethora of FS's on Linux that are dead, dying, or horribly engineered. This seems like such a monumental waste of resources, time, and energy to chase ZFS, which itself is not a stationary target. ZFS is

Yeah I was like uhhhh what? Illumos and illumos based OS'es and FreeBSD are the only games in town where ZFS is a first class citizen. Ill chalk it up to extreme bias.

I'm encouraged to hear your opinion on it. A friend of mine who turned me on to elixir is a fan of GraphQL as well. So you have pushed me to spend the day reading up on it and experimenting with it. Thank you.
