My commute is 30-35 minutes each way (walk to Bart, work in downtown SF). For comparison, when I lived in Lower Haight my commute time was 25 minutes each way (MUNI bus a block from my apartment to downtown).

Or consider that the bay is more than SF. I recently moved to Oakland and I'm paying around $1k/mo on rent compared to $2k/mo or more living in the city while not really giving up any of the benefits of living in the area.

IANAL but if someone leaves their front door open, it's still illegal to walk in and take their possessions. I would imagine this falls under a similar ruling.

It's not that it can't be used as a desktop OS (it obviously can), but that it will be see widespread adoption (like macOS or Windows) outside of the general Linux userbase.

Totally agreed with regard to 1). Coffee shops, schools, and airplanes all block certain websites. It may be unfortunate but it's clearly not illegal. It's their wifi and they can do with it what they please. Now I can understand

Right, and what the poster above you was saying is that people will sacrifice in that regard (or they simply don't care) to gain the benefits of living in an urban area like the culture, food, close proximity to bars and nightlife, etc
