I completely agree, but this stuff is still illegal in most of the United States. What am I supposed to do, just walk up to someone "how do you do fellow kids, I'd like to purchase one LSD".

It's nothing more than an anecdote, but I can't help but correlate the fact that I was diagnosed with colon cancer in late 2016. I joined as one of the first 12 employees of a startup a few years earlier and I can absolutely say w

I was on Folfirinnox + Avastin. 2 week cycle with three actual days of chemo, five shitty days and then a recovery week. Exercise was really dictated by my port surgically put into my right peck. After about four weeks I could deadlift, squ

34 year old triathlete here: colon cancer spread from my colon to my lung. That said, I do think continuing to do some amount of exercise during chemo definitely helped me recover, if not just stay sane mentally. I'm about to have surg

It sounds incredibly trite and cliche, but you have to make peace with the fact that the only constant in life is change. Everything is always changing. For a year or two I never found meditation to be anything other than silly breathing ex

I've been watching this firm slowly die via a thousand self inflicted wounds since 2016. I wish someone had the courage to just close up shop instead of barely limping along.

This is one of my largest pet peeves with Pandas. There's like (or was) three APIs. Half the stuff on Stack Overflow or blogs is from 2013-2015 and deprecated. I feel like I have relearn Pandas every four years since Wes launched it al

So where does this place Polars? My perhaps incorrect understanding was this (Arrow integration) was a key differentiator of Polars vs Pandas.

So the idea with the bee home is the bees come to me? As opposed to me buying honeybees and a hive? I'm asking out of genuine ignorance not trolling, as I'd love to have bees by my planter box, but I don't have the time to be

This resonates. I've moved from data engineering into sales engineering. The variety of problems is fun, albeit the context switching with Account Execs that don't respect my calendar is... something. A lot of my previous data wor

I've dealt with colon cancer in 2016 and again now in the present. I don't what the hell is driving it, but the gut biome is fascinating. It's definitely made me look at my diet and food variety much more seriously. I've

I hate to shill apps, but Sam Harris’s Waking Up app has really transformed me. It has a steeper learning curve then Calm/Headspace, but that’s because there’s a deeper focus on theory and practice- not just a five minute breathing exe

I haven't really looked at clojure since 2015? maybe. Nice to see that it's still around. I've never worked with a LISP in a professional setting, but like Haskell it's fun to play around with once and a while.

I did some consulting work for them in the Canary Wharf office back in maybe 2016?-ish. Even then it was clear the firm was in free fall- I've never seen anything like it and that's all I'll say.

Seems like a cool place to work, but I'm always a little weary of venture backed open source companies. When the board wants a liquidity event they'll win over users every time- put more features behind a paywall or force everyone

WOW. Ray / DCRainmaker is a huge voice in the endurance sports world, you don’t want this kind of publicity from him. I’ve had a Strava since, forever? Over a decade at this point. It’s the de facto app for cycling and running and is o

Off of Cape Cod by Stellwagen Bank you can see dozens any given day in the summer. Bubblenets are incredible to see up close. Another poster stated it perfectly- the intelligence and behavior of these creatures is incredible.

I don't have anything of substance to provide wrt clojure macros- it's been almost five years since i've fired up a repl. I will just say I really miss the Jepsen blog posts. They were always fun to read and I learned a ton.
