I don't really argue one way or another. Just wanted to precise that the anonymous user issue is a bit irrelevant. They couldn't do anything before, they still can't do anything. What changes (if they really do what the original blog post s

Err, it most likely is also a Google account, even a basic one, or at least linked to one. Unless you know a trick that I don't. As far as I know, the migration from Youtube accounts to Google accounts has been forced some time ago (I tried

You can't thumb up on Youtube without a Google Account (which is not exactly the same as a Google+ account). And, I already get the +1s (or thumbs up, or whatever it's called) of the people I follow on Youtube, in my Youtube stream. And I d

While I don't specially disagree with you, the difficulty of a problem and its benefit to humanity are two completely orthogonal issues. The fact that it's ultimately aimed at selling ads doesn't make what Google does (for example) in NLP a

Is MSN P2P ? It's been a long time (like.. oh. 7 years maybe ?) since I've used it, but iirc it was centrally routed. Only some things like file transfers were P2P.

Note that you are not always forced to be in someone's contact list to contact him. It's a user configurable setting. I wonder if call-blocking for incoming calls from persons not in contact list is done at server level or client level.

Skype is at its core a p2p idea, so this is expectable. That's sort of the same thing that was done for bittorent users, except with a single centralized authority. The interesting thing is that they do this without making a call. They only

The gist of the law ([0]) is that, unless you only use crypto techniques for authentication and checksumming, you have to document the process and provide the source code to be able to import it. That's... interesting. I'm French and I had

That's a very low value. With JS off or blocked, my browsers convey between 16 and 21 bits (the latter meaning unicity in their dataset). The amount of information conveyed by the HTTP_ACCEPT headers is especially preoccupying. There is not

The bit about talking to browser vendors is kind of off the track. Microsoft would be against, but Google would be happy to oblige ? Seriously ? Google Analytics is probably the most widespread user of tracking cookies out there. Besides, w

To be completely honest, if all you want is get a job at a big company, directly applying is probably more efficient than creating a startup. You don't get the same welcome package, though.

I've always assumed that the laptop rule was because it blocked X-rays, and so you could hide something under it. In that case, the size is irrelevant. It's just to prevent having to check manually too much. Besides, rules just change depen

Depends on what you expect, really. Setting up isn't much harder than, say, an Arch. Hardware support is generally ok, though if you want 3D acceleration, Nvidia is about the only safe option (ATI is absent, Intel can be tricky or non-suppo

Well, for the price of an iPad, you can get a high-end netbook. So, at some point, people have made the choice to get the iPad over the netbook, and cope with the disagreements.

Time zone setting can (and should) be a user-specific setting. Since a server application most likely isn't running as a the same user as the "real" logged-in user, there's no reason anything bad would happen.
