At some point that's just going to become a subreddit with a very, very loose sense of geography built into it that's more of a hindrance than an asset. For this type of thing, you either go all in like yik yak did with the geo or

Can you go into more detail on this, or just provide a link/documentation so I can also look into it for our own startup? Sounds very cool/interesting.

Agreed. Also, if IPFS is not the preferred way to go about this kind of endeavor, there are the guys at https://lunyr.com/ who are building a Wikipedia in blockchain architecture. About time someone actually attempted this.

As someone who contributes to many knowledge projects, including Wikipedia and Wikidata frequently, I'm curious about what you mean that Wikidata is not yet suitable for any purposes. Am I wasting my time contributing to it? I thought

I agree with your post. The OP is a bit fearmongering, however there is some general issues that are definitely true of Wikipedia, but because it seems to be doing well overall (in terms of traffic and ubiquity), nothing will change even if

Your post would have some semblance of significance and taken even slightly seriously if it wasn't so hyperbolic. What happened to nuance on HN?

As an angry, rejected nerd who is financially very successful (albeit not even close to Zuck), I would gladly get behind that. He represents me in a closely literal way.

Actually you're right. I can see this being one of facebook's bigger high profile flops. After talking to the "Facebook at Work" team at F8 (very very nice people), I thought that they might be in for a rougher time gett

This might not be a popular opinion here (so please reply too if you intend to downvote me), and I might be biased because I just came back from F8 Dev Conference yesterday, but I don't think the reason Facebook beats a lot of rivals i

Relevant username. But your #4 is silly, SNAP stock's valuation is exactly so high because of "that BS" that you are complaining about other companies doing.

It would be nice if Wikipedia let you vote on citations kind of like reddit. That way there is an easy consensus on what the top citations are and what the most dubious ones are. There can also be software/bots written to react to low

It's probably in between. It's incredible how he does not talk about compatibilism in a serious post about different possibilities of free will. I don't understand how that can be missed on purpose. But, his arguments and con

As much as I like competition, I think Wikipedia (in terms of Wikis) is as close to Google (in terms of search) as it can get to having a monopoly. And I am more OK with Wikipedia having a monopoly than Google since it is a non-profit. The

This way of thinking makes ethereum bring nothing new to the table vs. democratically elected rulers of government changing monetary policy. So nothing aside from the fact that you can make little programs using its language makes it unique

I think that's because hacker news is actually smart and not delusional like reddit. On reddit it's a de facto disagree button but a de jure spam report button. It's like they are in denial of what 99% of users use it for or

With all due respect, even though that might be true, that still doesn't necessarily conclude why YC has to continue to grow and take a larger and larger number at the pace that it is. It's clear what you're saying is true. S

This is a complete Non sequitur. Yes, all of what you said is correct about a different landscape, but none of that concludes to why YC has to be less prestigious, less exclusive, take many more startups, and make the entire process as impe
