Out of the box WASM programs cannot interact with anything outside of the WebAssembly sandbox. It can only call functions that the host (whatever is running your WASM) has declared.. WASI is a standard set of functions that you can call fro

There are a few.. Zig compiles to webassembly and looks fairly C-like. You can also use Cheerp or Emscripten to compile C to WebAssembly (though they both assume you are targeting the browser). Also +1 for Assemblyscript which is fairly C-i

That's only because the host javascript which loads the WASM is exposing functions to do webgl stuff. When you use emscripten to compile C++ is to WASM, part of that equation is the JS runtimes that allow you to call translate openGL c

Maybe a dumb question, but could you grind them up and separate out the superconducty bits with a magnet or would that destroy the effect?

The Makepad fractal zoom example crashed my browser in all kinds of of ways that a browser is not supposed to be able to crash.

I agree that the price doesn't matter as much as the experience; the Hololens 2 is just as expensive but generally people wouldn't commit to the limited field of view and lack of compelling use cases. Aside from media consumption

They have said that the alignment actually hurts the performance of the models. Plus for creative applications like video games or novels, you need an unaligned model otherwise it just produces "helpful" and nice characters.

I agree - I think for security and privacy we need it to be on-device (either that or there needs to be end to end encryption with gaurantees that data won't be captured for training). There are tons of useful applications that require

Rec Room and VR Chat are examples, but personally I'm in the camp that you should focus on building fun games that people want to play first then worry about turning it into an evergreen experience if you really want to make a 'Me

I really wish people would stop writing articles about how bad Horizon Worlds is. There are so many better and more popular VR experiences out there.

This is probably true (and I agree in this case it would be better for a tool like this). What I like about the idea of LLMs is that you won't need to write a couple hundred line program to parse something, you can just describe what y

When I read the headline I thought this would take a few rows of your CSV file and generate the schema from that using AI. Seems like you still need to manually describe the columns.

I blame much of the hype around the "metaverse" on crypto scammers. VR was arguably in a slow but steady growth phase centered around games until it got tied up with the overhyped and poorly defined buzz word, which also includes

IMO this is the big problem with the internet as it exists today - there is no incentive for producing accurate, unbiased information and non-sensationalist opinions. My greatest hope for the future is that somehow we can incentivize people

It's going to be a tool to help developers get things done faster for a while. Stuff that has been done a million times and has lots of stack overflow posts will be easy for AI to "get". Asking it to develop an application to

To be fair, I immediately assumed the events were in order given their A, B, C names. I don't assume that any chat bot understands logic just because it can write code. I think 90% of it's coding abilities are having an exceptiona

The effect of technological innovations is always that things get cheaper and thus available to more people and often that leads to bigger changes. In this case I think you're right about this having a big impact on design; most design

Sadly, I think the only way to protect against this is with another AI whose job it is to recognize what data is appropriate to reveal and what is private - basically what humans do. But, even then it will probably still be susceptible to t

Sadly Steam encourages everyone to do this - if you don't get high enough in the rankings at launch you basically won't make any money, plus everyone on Steam is super accustomed to getting everything at a discount.

My biggest pet peeve - just allow me to save a .wav file without having me make a project or 'export' it! It would be a huge time saver as I am usually just editing one file at a time, not mixing.
