So what you're saying is that no other OS has any programs that can compete with Exchange, Outlook, Office and Sharepoint. I agree. :) Maybe those other shitty operating systems makers should try harder if they want to replace Windows.

I expressed my opinion quite clearly, thank you very much. Here it is again: Everything that person stated was either incorrect or extremely insignificant because obviously none of those reasons have affected Windows very significant market

I wish there were something like Tortoise for Linux and Mac. It's certainly possible. Beyond Compare from Scooter Software implements the context menu in the file explorer on all platforms equally well.

Finding a better job isn't the only way. You can build stuff at home that you think can make money and ty to turn it into a business.

I don't need more than a text editor, a browser and a commandline to do web development. So I would be fine with just Linux if that's all I ever did. To do anything at all with iOS I need a Mac. So I expect that I will always have

Why would they say that? They could simply point out all the things that you can do on Windows that you cannot do on macOS because Apple will not let you.

Windows is the better OS. Microsoft never dropped support for power users. They give you options to do everything that you want to do, way more than macOS. It's also got the better business model. That's why every business in the

Did you hear the part about the Windows subsystem for Linux? Microsoft heard you. So now you get a really solid desktop experience plus your UNIX command line.

Any opinions on why developers on HN/elsewhere seem to prefer laptops over desktop machines? Do you really need to be coding on the bus/train/plane or in hotels? When you go to a meeting, do you really need to bring your enti

I don't understand why any dev would want to use a touchpad of any kind? They're not nearly as precise as a mouse. They cause you to rotate your cuff even further than a mouse. Dragging and dropping things is more difficult with a

The funniest part to me is just how AMAZED every presenter acts about using touch input with full desktop apps... as if they've invented something completely new and Microsoft and others haven't been doing this for years.

I can't get over the incredibly smarmy vibe that Apple emits at all times. It permeates their entire aura and the consistency amazes me. Every presenter has the same kind of rhythm and timing. I wonder who coaches them?

Having used Windows 10 + the Ubuntu Linux subsystem for a while now I think it's safe to say that the only reason I'll ever use a Mac again is if I am developing for iOS. Macs are still shipping with 10-year-old GNU utilities. LOL
