I'm not really sure what you mean but vim does refactoring just fine with ack/vimgrep with bufdo (applies any vim commands to the current list of buffers) It also has ctags support so you can navigate your code, go to a method/variable/clas

For ruby stuff, Vim really shines, mainly because of tpope's contribution and his excellent ruby plugins. Along with his Fugitive ( https://github.com/tpope/vim-fugitive ) plugin, it's actually fun to use Vim for ruby. It's just fantastic.

Not really, I just prefer using lldb/gdb or just simple printf/couts for debugging purposes. For Java, you really can't get decent code checking with vim unless you use a the eclim plugin and that just feels like a hack.

I love IntelliJ for java development but I never got why I might need a big IDE for c/C++. I just use Vim for that. I mean it does omnicompletion and code correction with clang, has snippets, support for switching between header and source

Okay that is freaking awesome. I now have GoT's theme playing in the terminal. This may actually make me misspell git even more.

That still wouldn't be right. My huge iPad doesn't fit in my pocket. And I will feel silly holding said huge iPad to my face when I want to make a call.

On the mac, Firefox Nightly loads the PDF in a second while Google Chrome Dev loads in about three seconds. I can enter text in the pdf in Chrome while Firefox gives an annoying little "The pdf might not be rendered perfectly" error bar at

Awesome! Does anyone know if SMS GV/Phone GV extension is working or not? I tried the tethered jailbreak on the 3GS and it wasn't working then. Only the Phone GV was working but it was slow. I have an iPhone 5 now and hopefully the day ends

From what I got from this conversation, Sublime Text is not a one man show anymore? Jon says he will "have something to say on the front soon". http://www.sublimetext.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=107...

Thank you, that was really helpful. Maybe I will give ArchLinux a try. I've heard nothing but good reviews. Nothing better than first hand experience, right? I love OS X though. The thing I like about it is, yes it does have UNIX but it is

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but it's not meant to be. I was wondering why people choose to install Ubuntu when OS X is already a great UNIX? I genuinely want to know since I consider myself as being close to an intermidiate developer and

I love Firefox. I use it because no other browser handles 30+ tabs like a champ while only using between 800GB-1.3 GB while still being fast. Chrome uses anywhere between 1GB - 1.8GB. And just look at Chrome's mess. How do I even tell which

I've used Paul's Online Notes for all my higher level math classes starting from Calculus 2. It has been more useful to me, even more than Khan's Academy. I like the little tricks and mnemonics that he teaches, especially in Linear Algebra.
